As of April 21st 2015 Google introduced their MICE update, they rolled it out globally over the coming weeks. This means that for anyone using a mobile smartphone to search on Google, only mobile-friendly websites will be favoured in the search engine results. Some have nicknamed it: MobileGeddon for the effect it has had on non-mobile-friendly sites.

Today, we’re announcing important changes to help users discover more mobile-friendly content.

Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.
